Arthur Swersey joined the Operations Research group shortly after it became part of the Yale School of Management in 1976. He earned tenure at SOM and was much-loved by students, who in 2018 endowed a classroom in his honor. He won the 2019 Yale SOM Alumni Relations Faculty Award for Outstanding Alumni Engagement.
