The Wireless Telecommunications Symposium brings industry professionals and academics from around the world together with government and industry leaders and experts to exchange information on advances in mobile communications and wireless networking technology, applications, management, and security. WTS 2004 will focus on the federal government's role in wireless communications. Among the organizations which will be represented are the Federal Communications Commission, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, SBC Communications, Verizon Wireless, Gartner, Lucent - Bell Laboratories, NTT DoCoMo Labs, IBM Research, Nokia, and Broadcom Corporation.

In addition to the invited speakers, symposium events will feature presentations and a panel discussion on future directions in wireless communications research,
presentations of selected applied research papers, a wireless network security tutorial, a doctoral students session, and a poster session. A CD containing the presentations and papers will be
distributed at the Symposium. The refereed proceedings will be published by the IEEE and available on its Xplore on-line publication system. In addition to
meals, there will be a Thursday evening welcoming reception and a Friday evening reception and tour of the Richard M. Nixon Library and Birthplace.
