Sheldon Jacobson Elected 2019 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
CATONSVILLE, MD, December 2, 2019 – The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) announces their 2019 Fellows and a career INFORMS member is honored.
Sheldon Jacobson, Ph.D., is one of eight professors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to be elected an AAAS Fellow.
Jacobson is the Founder Professor in computer science and director of the Simulation and Optimization Laboratory and Bed Time Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He is a former treasurer for the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and currently chairs the INFORMS National Science Foundation (NSF) Liaison Committee.
Founded in 1848, AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society. Fellows are chosen by their peers for outstanding contribution to the field.
Jacobson will be honored alongside the other elected Fellows at the 2020 AAAS annual meeting in February in Seattle, Washington.
